If you've never read any of H. P. Lovecraft's works, I highly recommend you start soon, and start with any one of his pieces. Really, they are all that good. If you know his works, congratulations! I already like you more than I did before. Okay, I already liked you as much as the rest since you're reading this post. Seriously, if you were looking into finding something to read, I suggest you start with Lovecraft, and why not his "Haunter of the Dark"? You can read it online here (courtesy of hplovecraft.com), or listen to it online here (courtesy of hppodcraft.com, where you can also download it for free). I will add in that audio version is really good. But if you're old fashioned, and you like a regular book, you can find one here.
To sum the story up, it's scary creepy, but no gore or mass murder like we've become all too in tune with. It's a good well-rounded horror story and very classic for it's author. The main character Robert Blake is an artist and poet, and moves to city, and becomes intrigued by this mysterious church in the distant part of the city that he can see from his rental window. One day he goes in search of it, but the towns people have either never heard of it, or act kind of shady and don't want to tell him anything about it. For the rest, you'll have to check it out yourself.
When you're finished, leave a comment here to let me know what you think!

bayou girl's amazon store
Don't forget to check out bayou girl's Amazon store. You'll find tons of books to read, and other book related things, like Kindle! If I'd have know I could have my own little Amazon Affiliate store before now, I totally would have done it! Give it a look around when you get a chance. If you think of something for me to add or do to it, let me know! Happy hunting!

I'm Back!
I'm back and ready to start again! I've taken a long hiatus, with very good intentions to read what I told myself to read, but didn't. Hopefully from now on out I will d better, I may not do anymore book-a-thons (books to read for the month of the year), but will do out some lists for use. I'll be filling in my old book reviews (stuff that I read before I started Bayou Book Girl, and will update the current ones I've read since I started. Enjoy! (And, as always, if you have any comments, suggestions or anything to tell me, please do! I have comments enabled and can be contacted at bayougirlonline@gmail.com). Also, don't forget to check out my alternate blog: bayougirlblogging.blogspot.com This is where I'll be keeping my more up-to-date information about things happening down in the bayou and around the world along with my own thoughts.

Bayou Book Girl, up and running!
Coming to you from a busted up bait shop down on the bayou, here I am, Bayou Book Girl. I finally decided to sit down and write, but this time about the stuff I read rather than the stuff in my head. I will be writing reviews and stuff about the books I'm reading and loving every minute of it. Eventually I'll add in the stuff I've read before now and more will come as well. Until then, enjoy! I am a regular reader of multiple books at once, so if I don't update often, I am more than likely to be reading and forgetting to update.
